What is a Corporate RIA in the context of a Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”)?

Definition: Large broker-dealer firms often have affiliated RIAs in which their financial advisors operate both as a registered representative under the broker-dealer, and also as an investment advisor representative under the RIA. The RIA component of such firms is typically referred to as the Corporate RIA.

When used in an RIA context: “The financial advisor is affiliated with the firm’s Corporate RIA.”
