Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction
What is an Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction in the context of a Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”)?
Definition: The formal name of a branch office of a broker-dealer that has, among other responsibilities, direct compliance oversight of the registered representatives assigned to the branch. Though in practice, such “branches” could involve more than a single physical location.
When used in an RIA context: “The financial advisor joined an existing Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction of the broker-dealer.”
