Assets Under Advisement
What are Assets Under Advisement in the context of a Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”)?
Definition: This is typically used to describe a broader set of client assets overseen by an advisory firm. It includes not only directly managed assets (“Assets Under Management”), but also assets such as 401k plans where the RIA advises the business regarding their plan, but doesn’t directly manage the individual assets in the plan.
When used in an RIA context: “While the RIA’s AUM is $550M, their total Assets Under Advisement is over $1B.”
