Certified Financial Planner
What is a Certified Financial Planner in the context of a Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”)?
Definition: The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is a designation obtained by financial advisors by completing a required level of educational coursework, a demonstration of industry tenure, and the passing of a rigorous capstone exam. It is not an industry license, but a certification meant to demonstrate a higher commitment to the profession.
When used in an RIA context: “The financial advisor obtained the Certified Financial Planner designation.”
